Homeschool Adventure Days
The Science Center’s monthly homeschool program for grades K–8: Trampoline Engineering labs for K–5 and an Egg Drop lab for grades 6–8, plus exhibit time and a live science show, with a lunch block in the middle. Every homeschool student must be accompanied by an adult. Note: the Science Center is closed Wednesdays.
Fall Into The Gardens Final week
Autumn marigold displays and a whimsical garden-chicken hunt tucked through the gardens. The seasonal fall blooms display wraps up on Monday, so this is the last call for it, and Monday is the gardens’ monthly Free Admission Day, so entry is free all day. The library runs story times that morning too: Baby Tales at 10:00, Toddler Tales at 10:20, and Preschool Tales at 10:40.
Crayola Toddler Tuesday
A morning built for toddlers: hands-on activities and creative play, a Crayon Character appearance at 11:30 AM, and this week’s specialty craft, making your own Creativity Tool Belt. Toddler Town, Scribble Square, and Stomp & Play stay open for free play. Admission is required for everyone ages 3 and up.
Green Meadows Petting Farm Pumpkin Zone Final week
Wednesday is Homeschool Day at the farm’s fall pumpkin zone, with the lower $12 admission all morning. The farm’s fall season ends Sunday, Nov 8, so this is also the last week for the pumpkin zone itself. Credit cards only, no cash.
Apopka Rotary’s Fall Family Festival
A four-day community fall festival: carnival midway, a kids’ market, live music, and rides. Ride armband specials run Thursday evening and again Sunday afternoon, and a 24-ticket family pack is $20.
Volusia County Fair & Youth Show
The big one: an 11-day county fair with livestock shows, lumberjack competitions, wild-animal shows, and a full midway. DeLand is about a 50-minute drive, and this is a worth-the-drive day if your crew likes a real fair.
Art Adventures: Habitat Heroes
A hands-on studio workshop plus a gallery visit, tied to The Wild Path panther photography exhibition: sculpt a clay Florida panther and build a shoebox habitat diorama to take home. Made for ages 2–10 with their grownup.
SeaWorld Christmas Celebration
Opening weekend of SeaWorld’s Christmas season: millions of lights, a sea of Christmas trees, snow flurries, live holiday shows, ice skating, and meet-and-greets with Santa, Rudolph, and the Sesame Street friends. Dinner with Santa and skate rentals cost extra.
Harvest Holler Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch Final week
The final weekend of the season at a working family farm: corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, and farm animals, with a country store and homemade cobblers. A quieter, slower-paced farm day than the big Clermont festivals. The season ends Sunday.
Harvest to Holly ⭐ Pick of the Week
A free family afternoon in Horizon West, hosted by Crossline Community Church: hayrides, inflatables, food, music, and vendors, plus an early taste of the holidays with Santa and snow activities. Why it’s my pick: it’s free, it’s close to home, and it packs hayrides, inflatables, Santa, and snow into one afternoon. That’s a lot of happy kids for zero dollars.
Free Family Funday: Rock, Cloud, and Mountain!
A free museum day with a family art project and hourly docent tours through the galleries. An easy, low-key Sunday outing.
Register Early
These events are still a few weeks out, but they fill up fast, so we’re listing them now while registration is open.
Breakfast with Santa (Festival of Trees)
A hot breakfast with Santa before the Festival of Trees crowds: face painters, crafts, balloon artists, and a Santa photo op. Tables seat 4 to 10 and are sold per table, not per person. Checked Sat Oct 31: Nov 14 has 4-top and 8-top tables left, Nov 15 is down to 10-top tables only, and Nov 21 still has 6, 8, and 10-tops. The 4-tops sell out first.
Homeschool Junior: Cross Stitch Keychain
A homeschool craft session for ages 6–12: make a cross stitch keychain to take home.
Make a Stop Motion Movie
Kids ages 6–12 write, shoot, and star in their own stop motion movie in the library’s Technology Classroom. It starts right after the cross stitch session in the same building, so the two pair up into one trip.
